FONT AID IV Haiti »Coming Together« A License to Help (desktop type specimen)
February 19, 2010 – 8:17 am
arnoKath has added a photo to the pool: Wallpaper 1920×1200 promoting the Type Designers »FONT AID IV« initiative dedicated to the suffering people of Haiti. With the words of » S{o}TA «: The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) is proud to announce the release of »Coming Together«, a font created exclusively for Font Aid IV to benefit the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. The font consists entirely of ampersands, to represent the idea of people coming together to help one another. Type designers, graphic designers, and other artists from around the world contributed artwork to the font. More than 400 noted type designers and graphic designers found more than 400 creative and eye–catching ways—Ampersands— to thank you for your contribution to alleviate the suffering of the people of Haiti. You may receive gratitude here , here , here or here . Typefaces in use—except »Coming Together«—for my wallpaper, chosen and combined because of the symbolism of their names, as contrast to the positive symbolism of the ampersand (except japanese culinary preferences): Anubis by Dino dos Santos (DS Type) Fugu by Neil Summerour (Positype) Personal wish: If you are in the mood, design a wallpaper using the »Coming Together« ampersands and spread it in the WWW to win as many people as possible to contribute to and to promote the »FONT AID IV Haiti« initiative.

Good Bad Lovely
February 14, 2010 – 8:20 am
miss miah has added a photo to the pool: The spacing was a bit of a pain but I managed to get the tracking about right in my opinion. Except for the first The, the T and H are too far apart. In Lovely the V and E are too close. Now that I look at it, maybe the Os in good could use some tightening up. There maybe too much space between lines as well.
César Puertas »Urbana« Valentype (for widescreen displays)
February 14, 2010 – 1:58 am
arnoKath has added a photo to the pool: Wallpaper 1920×1200 created with César Puertas’ fashionable and versatile contemporary sans-serif typeface » Urbana « Urbana is a contemporary sans-serif typeface inspired in the traditional lettering seen in one of the most popular, massive transportation mediums available in Bogotá (Colombia): “busetas” (small city buses). A mixture of influences reminiscent of modernism, hand lettering, cluttered spaces and improvisation are the source of its characteristic forms. Urbana was designed to save space and catch the reader’s attention. It is recommended for typesetting headlines, short paragraphs and any texts where the economy of space may be an issue. »Valentine’s Day Feeling« with Nicole and Petra Kapitzas (KAPITZA) adorable » Hearts «.
